I know my daughter is allergic to a lot of washing powders, but the last couple of times she has worn a swimming costume, she has had an allergic reaction to the part of the swimming costume that is elasticated with stitching (I have tried different costumes on her each time). It took 3 weeks for her skin to recover both times. Does anyone know what material this is (It must be different to the actual swimming costume because the rest of her body was fine) and can you buy swimming costumes without this material in it. Please help as I don't want to put her through this suffering again. (She has just turned 6)

Do you mean swim suit? Not familiar with swimming costume term or what it might be made of....

Hmm if it is the elastic that is bothering her then maybe she is allergic to latex rubber?

Sorry, i'm from England, yes I meant swim suit. I have read about latex rubber but she doesn't seem to have any symptoms to anything else on that particular list. I didn't know whether it could be the actual stitching on the swim suit, I have been to every shop in my town that sell swim suits to find out what the material is they use to stitch them with, but the only answer I seem to get is "We don't know, they are all made in China", I didn't know if anyone else had had this problem.
