Hi Guys,

I have a few questions about the safe ways to fast. I was thinking about maybe a three day fast. The reason I would like to fast is because I took a trip to Vegas and was "not-so-nice" to my body.. I want to clean out all the toxins. Can anyone reccomend a good, healthy way to fast? Also I am currently losing weight, I have about 5-6 pounds left to my goal weight. Will fasting be a bad idea? Should I wait till all the weight is off... or will this jump start the weight loss again? I currently have been losing about 2pounds a week.

aim for 3-5 shakes& then the rest of the time have unlimited water, crystal lite products or decaff iced tea wit no sugar sweetener.

PLEASE remember to take a good multi& most IMPORTANT DO NOT EXCEED 2 WEEKS! After that, add 1 meal with them for 2 more weeks&then decide to continue 1 meal a day for longer, or start fasting again. you can lose up to 20 pounds in 2 weeks.keep me posted. hth.

The quickest way is not always the best.

Fasting (as it has been described) will shed some pounds but the pounds will most likely be gained back when normal eating habits resume.

If you only have 5 or 6 pounds left, why resort to this extreme method of weight loss?

My advice would be to analyze your diet and "clean" it up a bit and increase the amount of exercise.

I know people who have followed this "fasting" method and it never produces any permanent -- and healthy -- results.

Your body does not need to be deprived in order to lose weight -- it just needs healthy nourishment and regular exercise.

20 pounds in two weeks? Maybe, but not 20 pounds of fat. You'll maybe lose a few pounds of fat and the rest will be muscle and water. In the end, you will weigh less but be fatter -- the percentage of muscle to fat will greatly decrease, thus your body composition will have a higher ratio of fat, and with the loss of muscle, your metabolism will slow down.

Ok first off I think you both read my post wrong.. I was hoping to only fast for a few days.. and it is to rid my body of toxins.. Not to lose weight. I am trying to lose about 5 pounds of fat.. not water.. I don't want to fast or starve myself to lose weight. I want to clean out my system. So forget all about the weight loss stuff.... I just want to know a safe two day fast. Thanks

Okay, I read your post again and I did misunderstand it.

I'm not sure that fasting is the only way to clean your system. Just don't put any toxins into your system. What is a toxin? Drugs? Alcohol? Fast food?

Maybe for three days consume only fruits, veggies and water. And get a lot of exercise.
