View Full Version : osteopina?

I'm 49 years old and have been on depo provera for almost 2 and a half years. I started depo because of heavy constant bleeding. I don't think I am menopausal yet.

Because of my age and the depo, I got a bone density scan which showed I have osteopina. I believe the diagnosis comes from being more than one standard deviation but less than 2 from what they consider optimum bone density. I haven't had a chance to talk to my doctor to get any additional information, like what my actual score was, exercises, changes in calcium intake (I was supplimenting 900 mg with calcium citrate, but since the diagnosis have gone to supplimenting 1350 to 1550 mg).

Anybody dealing with osteopina? What are you doing for it? I've been trying to read up on it and have come across some research that says women post menopause with greater bone density are more likely to develop breast cancer. Anyone hear about this?

I just got a blood test to check for levels of calcium, Vit D and Vit K and a couple of other things, but have no information back yet.
