sometimes generics are identical, being made by the same company
otherwise the generic should be very close

paxil does have a reputation of being unusually difficult to eventually stop, see paxil discontinuation syndrome on the net

I would be thinking of swapping to some other SSRI type med, discuss with doc

I also hope you are learning new ways of calming and relaxing yoiurself and of coping with anxiety
the time to do these things is now, dont wait until after you eventually stop the med

I was on paxil for about 4 years before trying the generic. I felt the generic didnt work as well as the real stuff. Supposibly theyre the same, but I didnt think so.

Well, I start the generic version of paxil (paroxetine) this past sunday. I feel more anxious and panicky than before. Could be the change in medications. Has anybody experience this when you change medicines?

I was on Paxil CR 25 mgs and there was a bit of a scare that it may be temporarily discontinued and so my doc put me on 20 mgs of regular Paxil (not CR). The good thing was that this came in a generic (which meant that I only had to pay $10 rather than $40 per month). I honestly have not noticed any difference between the two and am doing great with the generic
