Is Olestra or Olean really that bad for you? If I eat 1 or 2 servings of Olstra potato chips every couple of days, is that bad?

Sissy 07-11-2002, 03:27 PM Is Olestra or Olean really that bad for you? If I eat 1 or 2 servings of Olstra potato chips every couple of days, is that bad? Sponsor all things 07-14-2002, 10:22 PM Yes, it is very, very bad. Many scientists discredit it, and think it's an evil foisted on the public. Some countries have banned it. It does horrible things to the intestines, and is a fake, unnatural product. Even a little of such a unhealthy product can hurt you. I urge you to stay away from it. Yekcoh4 07-15-2002, 11:15 AM OMG, I had NO idea it was bad for you1 I had it only once in the WOW Potato chips and wasn't very impressed. I guess I have an definate answer as to whether I should buy them again or not!! Tara A. Baldini 07-17-2002, 01:37 PM I once saw the ingrdient Olestra on a bag of low fat Doritoes and it said that it can cause stomach upset. What other foods contain Olestra? Yekcoh4 07-17-2002, 02:26 PM Hmm, I have never even heard of low fat Dorito's =) I believe low fat or fat free (I forget) Pringles chips contain it also. I knew that Olean could give you bad cramps, but I tried the WOW chips anyway. Afterwards I sat waiting to see if I would die. LoL. I had no cramps at all, but I still woudln't try it again after what I just read from an 'Olean' site!! ::eeek:: [This message has been edited by Ange (edited 07-17-2002).] |
