Has anyone been pregnant with gerd.We are trying but my main concern is how am I going to control the reflex. My doc says no to any of the stronger meds(nexuim, prilosic)and even the otc(tagament, pepcid)only tums and rolaids.I definitely will not jeopardize anything by taking anything,But I hear pregnancy can make it soo worse. If anyones dealt with this and handled it tell me how!!!Thanks

Hi

There is a pill called domperidone which is pretty safe to take during pregnancy. It is a motility agent which also increases the LES pressure, so you would reflux less. I use this drug myself and usually you take 10mg 4 times a day (15-30 min before breakfast, lunch and dinner and one before going to bed). You can take more if you like. I also read an article and how they used this drug to treat reflux in pregnant women and how it worked well. So talk to your doctor and give this pill a try. The reason you are getting the reflux is because the stomach has grown and the extra weight is producing a lot of pressure (since the waist gets bigger and contributes to the pressure on the stomach pushing things up), but I guess you already know this. So give it a try and let us know how it goes.
