I heard Susanne Sommers wrote a book about diets. She says it's not fats that are bad for us it's the sugars. Anyone know anything about it?

She has a number of books out, widely available - my library even has all of them.

Besides eliminating sugar, her other big thing is stressings which foods you can eat at the same meal. Foods that are primarily protein are not to be eaten with starchy carbohydrate foods.

Thanks for the help. The low carbohydrate diet is too limiting. I can't even eat popcorn. That's the one thing I've always eaten and I've always heard popcorn was one low calorie filling food. I guess I saved some money on a book. If I hear anything else I'll have to check it out at the library first.

One plan that would allow you to eat some popcorn (one of my favorites, too!), though within limits, it Rachel and Richard Heller's, Carbohydrate Addicts' Lifespan Program. They have a more recent book, CA's Healthy Heart Program that has the most recent research and is relevant even if heart problems are not a concern.

Briefly, you have two meals a day that include a protein and low-carb veggies. Then one meal a day you start with 2 cups of salad, then have a balanced meal about 1/3 protein, 1/3 low-carb veggies, 1/3 other carb (which could include popcorn).
