survivor2005 08-19-2005, 08:39 PM Has anyone noticed any tingling sensation in the top of their brain and can this be a symptom of HIV?
Also - not really having a sore throat, but perhaps a congested throat?
Any information would be great - thanks.
MrJon 08-20-2005, 07:58 AM Woah, back up.
Symptoms, mean jack.
A doctor is your first port of call for any medical problems, and its not wise to start down this road. Have you had some form of exposure to make you think that you may have become infected? We can help with that.
And congestion is not considered a symptom no, as congestion is your body trying to expel something from your body, like a cold or something.
i would like to know because i have also had this tingling where it feels like something is draining in the back of my head
MrJon 08-20-2005, 12:52 PM Woah woah woah. Don't start this or encourage it. There is no point in it. I did it and ruined three months of my life. I had every symptom possible, which are still continuing. But it is not HIV. I have tested negative twice now, way past any sort of conventional window.
Don't encourage symptom hunting. Think of it, you think that potentionally this tingling is HIV related. If it was, don't you think that if this was a 100% effective way of diagnosing it then there would be nobody who was unaware of their status.
You are becoming hypersensitive to your body and overanalysing it. Even if you think that you get a so called symptom without even thinking of it, it is only your body reacting to the hormone inbalance the stress is creating. Please believe.
you still have not said whether or not this was a symptom
MrJon 08-20-2005, 01:09 PM BECAUSE THERE IS NO SYMPTOMS!
Sorry to shout but you have to trust me on this. Your body will react in EXACTLY the same way to any infection, or STRESS. Listen to what I am saying, I did what you are doing and went to hell and back, got ill over nothing. Im not going to encourage this by saying that it is or it isn't.
I had so many people telling me what I am saying to you now and I can most certainly sympathise, but let me try to help. What was your risk?

angel4u 08-20-2005, 07:50 PM Tingling in your head is not a symptom of hiv......I will not even go into what it takes for hiv to affect the brain. Your symptom is not hiv related......
lost spirit 08-21-2005, 02:17 AM Hiv isn't a symtom based illness because if it was then there would realy be no need for testing at all ....... Would there ?
Me personaly being positive myself can read every post in this entire forum and still not be able to say to myself ( OH MY GOD HE HAS HIV SYMTOMS ) because hiv is truly a faceless enemy .
It can be ANYTHING or NOTHING AT ALL .
And I'm not lying to you .
One person can have the same problems as another that is in fact positive and the other will be negative .
In the end it all comes down to the blood work and the test itself .
Staying up all day and night reading and stressing and having anxiety attacks isn't the answer .
When you do that you become parranoid and normal every day thing begin to stand out more to you and you begin to think that everything is a symtom of hiv infection .
You become more aware of the simple thing like some bacteria build up on you're toung and start to think its thrush if you get a pimple you will think it is the rash if you get a cold you think it is because you're immune system is failing .
YOU WILL GET EVERY SYMTOM AS YOU READ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and even if you do test negative you will have a very hard time accepting it because you beat youreself so hard during the window period telling you're self ( you're screwed ) that you can't handle the test results if they are in fact negative .
( ONCE AGAIN I'M NOT SAYING ALL )
But in many many cases hiv ( IF IT EVEN DOES HAPPEN ) the symtoms are very mild to ( NONE AT ALL ) it does its real damage over time and as far as looking for thrush and all the other strange illnesses you're ( CG+4 OR T-CELLS ) have to be very low and stay low to have most of those problems . Hiv wasn't discoverd because of symtoms it was discoverd by all the strange illnesses and very rare sicknesses that people were coming down with that a normal immune system could easily handle .
So my advice to you is stop web searching and keep posting here for support and remember that symtoms whether existant or not is irrelevant and it all comes down to the bloodwork and the test itself .
In good health ...........

angel4u 08-21-2005, 07:54 AM Amen Lost Spirit.......you have more patience than I do....blessings
MrJon 08-21-2005, 08:43 AM Agreed. LS has a point where acceptance of a negative is concerned. The window period causes such anxiety and fear that you can't accept those negatives. Stop symptom hunting, my glands are gonna stay swollen for a long time my doc says from the damage I caused prodding them.
You will be ok.
survivor2005 08-30-2005, 11:25 AM Thanks so much for all the responses. Well the tingling sensation in my head is gone but now i have the following symptoms:
3 days ago a pain developed when I took a deep breath. I feel short of breath and when I breathe deeply a stabbing pain is felt at the bottom of my ribs on the left side. It has slowly worsened to the point where the pain has radiated up to my neck on inhalation of a deep breath. The pain is only on the left side it has not gone to the right hand side at all.
MrJon - as per your first reply - yes I did have a questionable exposure but it was 3times with a girl that I was dating for 6 months. And although I haven’t had any specific symptoms related to HIV exposure - I do not feel my self at all.
I have had a CT scan and blood work done and all the only thing abnormal in my body was high potassium - which is funny cuz I don't take any potassium vitamins.
thanks
