View Full Version : Is this anxiety?

My health patterns have changed drastically in the last two years as much as I try to ignore the problem, I feel there is no other alternative then to see a doctor.

Whenever I am in uncomfortable situations my body just puts me in a nervous state of mind. If the attention is on me I do not know how to handle it

I start sweating all over my body especially my face, I feel a burning sensation running through my body, my hands tremble, and most embarrising is when I turn red like a tomatoe every single time

I have tried to ignore the problem but is affecting my social life drastically. I believe I am giving an impression that I am anti-social or have no self-esteem over a reaction I can't control

My doctor gave me 30 tablets of Buspirone 15 mg and said to take 1/2 a tablet twice daily. I tried his suggestion but I get very dizzy therefore I am taking 1/3 of a tablet twice daily

He wanted to start me slow and see where we stand in a month from today

Any suggestions or comments are appreciated Thank You

This sounds like anxiety to the T. You are definately not alone. Its not uncommon to have anxiety about taking medication also. You may really benefit from taking this medication, and yes it takes a little while to notice a difference. If this is an antidepressant it could take up to 3 wks to notice anything. It all depends on how long it takes in your body to adapt to this medication. What you mention about giving the impression that you are anti social reminds me of myself. I do not want to be anti social but anxiety and depression is hard to work with sometimes. Personally I have noticed a big difference since I have started taking medication, my anxiety symptoms are way more tolerable.
Let me know how it all goes for you, and these boards here are great and the people here are truly kind. Its nice to know there is a place to come to if you need to reach out.

to miami
sounds like social anxiety disorder, any valium type med taken as needed will help a lot, a beta blocker med should help with the blushing and other physical problems
buspirone isnt much good, IMO, valium is much better, an antidepressant med sometimes helps and is often prescribed

keep a deep suntan of face and neck for the blushing

you need to learn new ways of calming and relaxing yourself, you may be better with another doc
