I just got prescribed 10mg pills of Atarax for anxiety by my doc. Think such a small dose will help at all? Anyone been on it? ...I think since my psych. is also my mother's friend, it was harder for me to explain my situation to her without getting, um...anxious. I kinda kept quiet...but i have really terrible anxiety...I don't know if she got that. I guess that's why she started me at such a low dose. So, does anyone take this or know anyone who does?

I have never taken that perticular med,but any anti anxiety med I have taken my doctors have always started them out at a very small dose 0.5mg.
They do this to see how things go and also it is best to take the least amount that works for us.I also have major anxiety that comes and goes ..this 0.5mg with any med i have taken has always worked for me.I now take Ativan 0.5mg as needed
