Hi everybody,
I was wondering if anyone has gone through sinus surgery, I am scheduled for August 29 and I am really anxious and scared. This is the third time they have scheduled me, I keep chickening out. However this time my doc told me I must stop the frequent use of antibiotics for sinus infections, and the only way is to correct the deviated septum and widen the nasal passages so I can drain. I am a serious athlete, and in training, and I am concerned for the losses I may experience through the recovery. In real time, how long will I be unable to train? Would it cause damage to jog lightly a couple days post op? My doctors always go on the side of caution so I dont really know.
Thanks!

How long did the docs say you had to stay on the sidelines? I had my deviated septum repaired years ago before I started running but I don't recall any admonitions about excercise. And this past February I had my gallbladder removed and jogged two miles one week later. I normally jog two miles 4 days a week and the doctor told me he wouldn't put any restrictions on me, that I would know when I could do it. And I did. Never missed a beat since. Maybe you just need to talk to them about how much you work out now? Anyway, a few days off won't make a difference. It didn't for me. Good luck!

Hi my ent doc told me twelve days I could not train, which is out of the question for me,
I train seriously cycling/running/boxing/roping approx 2 1/2 hours daily, and although the sinus infections I get frequently bc of my sinus passages and deviated septum I have pushed through the symptoms missing a day or two here or there. I do expect to have a couple days off post op realistically, but I have a race coming up mid september and I don't want to lose too much in my training...
Just want to make sure I won't do damage if I go back too quickly too soon, thanks all and hats off to all of you who have undergone the surgery courageously! :)
Thanks again!
