The other day I think I was exposed to ammonia or bleach vapors when I went to a restroom, but it was for a very short time. I was concerned that I hurt my eyes, so I have been checking my vision. My vision seems pretty good, but sometimes I notice when I look at the sky, there are these transparent liquid-like transparent floating images that sort of "fall" down my path of vision. Sometimes there is this darker one that does the same thing, it's a fairly tiny spot that kind of changes shapes of I blink my eye, and it's like I can "throw" it out of my vision if I turn my eye, and if my eye stays place it falls. It's not there all the time, but certain times. Is this a floater? Does anyone think I hurt my eyes, am I going blind from the vapors? I'm very concerned.

Maybe you ought to go to a doctor :) Floaters are little specks you see floating in your field of vision. I see them alot when I am working under bright lights. I am weird I know but they're kinda of fun to watch when you get bored...you never know which way they'll go.
If you see a rush them......emergency room asap

Hi R5555,
Sounds like floaters. Floaters are quite common and are experienced by almost everyone at some time in life. If floaters are numerous, accompanied by flashing lights, peripheral vision loss, it could indicate a detached retina. But just some stringy floaters (almost like tobacco smoke) or one or two little black dots that move around with eye movement isn't really uncommon. Fumes of any kind could cause eye irritation, redness, watering, but floaters are usually caused by cell debris or changes inside the eye, where fumes couldn't get to. If the floaters you have are disturbing, you should see an opthalmologist for an evaluation, especially if you have other health concerns such as diabetes, very near-sighted, or any head injuries.
It never hurts to get things checked out.

the "transparent liquid like object" you are seeing is floaters. It's no big deal, because it's a reflection of your dead cells or blood vessels in your retina. It's very common if you're near sighted, myopic degeneration. If you are near sighted, you should have it examined regularly, because the retina is being stretched, thinned and can be detached due to blunt trauma like fights, collision and even sneezing. A good COMPETENT optometrist should be able to examine you with a dilation test.

I've never heard of fumes causing floaters.
Maybe you've had floaters all this time but they just happened to come into your field of vision when you happened to be exposed to fumes?

Doctor or no doctor, the end result is still the same, isn't it? There is nothing the doctor can do about floaters, right? He'll most likely just tell us to try to ignore them. Huh! Small consolation! Trying to ignore them is much easier said than done. It's like trying to ignore a bunch of gnats that keep flying around in front of your face.

i get exactly what you described R5555, i got them today too, i'm sitting their reading Harry Potter, and then whilst i'm reading at the corner of my eye i could see this little liquid like shape, and i could see it following my vison whilst i was reading and it annoyed me so i stopped reading..its kinda gone now...i also have them if i'm just sitting there staring into the sky or where ever and then i see these floater things and i can follow them, then they disappear and another then comes...i don't get them all the time, only when i'm staring into place or looking up at the sky, i don't have poor vison, but i was wondering if it was to do with my headache, coz i had this pain round my eyes and forehead for a while, and then that's when i saw the floater...
