I was diagnosed with LPR in April....and have recently been having some shoulder pain...but it only acts up when I jerk it suddenly... I don't want to be a hypochondriac but have heard that GERD sufferers also experience shoulder pain...is it similar to what I've described? I have had trouble with this shoulder in the past....so, maybe it's nothing...thanx~

Which shoulder? Sometimes shoulder pain can actually be a referred pain from the abdomen. I know that gallbladder and pancreas problems can be referred to the shoulder (I had a sore right shoulderblade with my gallbladder). So I don't know if the shoulder pain could be an indicator of an additional problem or if it is possible to get referred pain from the problems that you have already diagnosed. Definitely something to mention to your doc who is treating your stomach.

It started with stiffness in my left shoulder....whereupon sudden movement caused intense, but fleeting pain. In the last few days I have noticed tenderness in my right shoulder as well. Another new symptom is a dull/intermittent throb along the mid line of my stomach, about 2 inches above my bellybutton. Now what the h*** is this? I was initially diagnosed with LPR (confirmed by redness in the larynx area)...but does this sound like I now have GERD as well? The stomach and shoulder pains just started about 2 weeks ago..... should I be concerned that this is a side effect of PPI's???

sounds like GERD. I was having pain right below the sternum and pain in left shoulder and was part of gerd. ppi's take a little time to work and mine is finally starting to help as I have not had that pain in a few days. Best to talk to your Dr. though because these conditions can be different to an extent for everyone.
