I recently went to see a Rheumatologist who is supposed to specialise in FM he first of all told me there wasn't a test for FM,I pointed out the there is a test with regards to pressure points. Anyway this was for a solicitor for compensation following a car crash and having recently to give up work. The Rheumatoligist confirmed my previous condition of FM had been made worse by TWO YEARS!! Am I wrong in saying that our condition is not progressive and that if I hadn't had the crash I could have continued to work until I was 65. I think it is impossible to say how much the crash made me worse, only that it did.
Where do I go from here? Are there any doctors out there who will back me up without having to fly to America!!!

Stress, trauma, as from an accident, illness, can all make fm worse. We have had many threads on that subject. I think what you are dealing with here is semantics. Not progressive as in MS can be progressive or cancer can be progressive etc. Certainly though a car accident can increase the level of pain and symptoms you now have to live with, IMO.

That's just what happened to me. I was sick, my Dr. had been sending me all over to find out what my problem(S) were, x-rays, CTScans, 2nd opinions, etc...Then I was driving, sneezed & hit a mailbox, spun twice and was stopped on a small hill against 2 small trees.
I have gone downhill ever since, fast. That accident was in November, 2003, 6 weeks after I took my neck brace off from removing 3-4-5 discs in my neck. Degenerative neck disease.
