i have been told that if you contract HIV, that one of the most common factors is extreme weight loss. How quick after a possible exposure is this weight loss supposed to occur? Is it quick , or is that a symptom that comes about after time? Also, is there any association with difficulty breathing when going to bed at night and HIV? I notice that breathing is labored when laying down at night. Thanks all.

Sounds like you may be having GI problems--stomach problems. See if you can talk to your doc about it. This can happen to anyone. Good luck.

OCD: I am not even going to go into what causes the weight loss in people with hiv, because if your name rings true to you I am sure you will manifest the symptoms. Sounds to me that you may have an anxiety issue or a possible nutritional issue.....Seek advice from your doctor and stop thinking you have some dreaded dis-ease. A check up is the first place to start....Peace

I lost 8-10 lbs without diet or exerscise...there were a number of tests the Dr ran because there are a number of conditions, besides AIDS, that can cause weight loss. EVen if you're too scared to test, it's always best to get it checked out otherwise.
