This question is for those who have herpes. How long after you were infected did it take for symptoms to appear.
A few other questions:
1) What were the symptoms ?
2) How server where they ?
3) How long did you wait to get tested ?
Just curious ?
Thanks.

hello aloneandscared,
I actually dont know when I became infected with herpes itself, I just know when the symptoms started something was up with my body...
1.)my symptoms started as a bad headache for 2 or 3 days, then I started having yeast infection like symptoms the discharge, itchy ect. A couple of days after this AND using a 3 day yeast infection kit with no luck some blisters started to show up. It was impossible to urinate without having the urge or actually crying. I went to a doctor a couple days after the blisters appeared!
2.) I'd say it was mildish...I mean the worst part was the pain while going to the bathroom and how long it took to get comfortable again after going. I remember sitting on ice packs or applying cold compressions from a washcloth to my area after going just to get 'some' relief! I found it to be helpful. Once I was given the ayclovir it started to heal up granted it did take a few days, but the OB it self lasted about a week or so. I havent had another OB since the primary in November...
3.)I guess I already answered this. I remember my symptoms starting around a wednesday the blisters coming around friday saturday, i wasnt able to get into the doctor until the following tuesday. I knew I had to go in asap as soon as the blisters started...
I hope thats some of what you were looking for.

I have type 2 and my symptoms showed up 2 months down the track. I remember feeling tired and drained. I also felt a fair amount of itching and saw some very tiny bumps which looked like little blisters with clear fluid in them. After a couple of days of constant itching, the area began to sting.
My first ob wasnt around my vaginal area like a lot of other females get. Mine was located right next to my anal area which made it difficult to wipe after a bowel movement. Not knowing much about genital herpes, i believed that all women would get them in the same location. My partner had used condoms, which didnt help. We didn't even practice anal sex and i figured it was a weird spot to get an ob, but have come across a few others who have had the same experience.
I got desperate and applied straight tea tree oil to the area and the itching and stinging would disappear for the entire day and i'd not feel a thing. You wouldn't go putting straight tea tree anywhere near the vagina though!!!!! you can dilute it though and rinse the area with the solution. It's very refreshing and soothing. I have since also found that applying garlic oil to any irritated spots or ob's helps in the day to day symptoms and recovery process too.
I got the blisters swabbed and a few days later i was told that the test was definitely positive. I didnt want to sit around and wait or try to find answers on this board. The best thing to do was to find out for sure whether i had herpes or not and once i found out i did a lot of research on ways to prevent ob's as much as possible.

I was infected some time between August and November of last year with hsv1. I've never had any symptoms and don't even know for sure where my infection is. We assume it's genital. I was tested 6wks after delivery.
