I was wondering if any of you have any personal experience or advice for breaking a diet plateau. I have been slowly losing fat/gaining muscle for the past 2 months, but I've been at a standstill for about 3 weeks now. I know some of breaking a plateau has to do with exercise as well, and I will post a similar thread on the exercise and fitness board, but as far as diet goes, what do you think i should do?
in a typical day i eat about 1700 calories from a balanced combo of the following:
low fat yogurt
low fat cottage cheese
nuts
veggies/salads -- cucumbers, tomatos, lettuce, broccoli
fruit -- bananas, blueberries, peaches, apples (in a smoothie and alone)
chicken, fish (i dont like red meat)
whole grains -- oatmeal, wheat bread, wheat based cereal
beans (black beans, kidney beans)
whey protein (a smoothie every day w/the fruit i listed)
i almost never eat any processed/"white" foods, or snack type boxed items. a treat of low fat ice cream from time to time, and then a moderate amount of alcohol on the weekends.
i work out 6 days a week and weight train 2 of those days.
any thought are much appreciated!
