Hi There,
I have a Downs Syndrom son who has Keratoconus? They don't want to do cornia transplants right now because he is some what of any eye rubber and there afraid he would ruin his transplant. Right now he has this big bubble on his eye and it's filling with grey fluid. He has been seen by an eye specialest and is being treated with predison and cyclogyl drops. We had gone threw this last November-(but it was the other eye) and it last four months. It made his life so difficult, we had to live like Vampires because he could not handle the light and he just slept allot, The grey fluid had covered his entire puple, so he was blind in that eye for four month. My question is, dose this kind of thing happen often and is it painfull?

I am very sorry for your son. I can imagine the pain he must have. (well, at least, it sounds painful to me). I can't post any web addresses here, but I was doing research for a friend who also has this condition (not as bad as your son) and I found the "Center for Keratoconus" online.

For the light problem--you can buy inexpensive safety glasses that are very dark, or you can get inexpensive, plastic welding glasses at a welding supply store.

Thank's for the infor on the Keratoconus center,I'm going to check it out. I am just feeling really bad, I look at him and all I see is this huge bubble filled with grey cyst fluid. WE do had some dark glass for when we go out side but I am just so curious how often this happens when you have this disease. When your a Mom you want a magical med that will fix up you childs illness. Actually he is 19 years ols, only 4 Ft. 11 inches tall, He's a real happy funny kind of guy who loves life and make's you smile daily. My older son says-We need to write Ophra! She will find someone who can help him.
