cause i was reading some websites, and im confused.. when it says patches on your mouth does that mean its on your gums too.. i have these white things on my gum ... but i cant tell if that is just irritation from my toothbrush cause its pretty harsh... anyway even if i dont have it, which im pretty sure i dont, it arises questions about it.. what is it like?

Crazygirl, thrush is a oral yeast infection and it is quite painful. I would say it is much worse then having your tongue burned by hot pizza. It can appear on your gums also in severe cases but I believe it will settle mostly on the tongue first. If your were to try and scrape off the white to yellowish colored film that resembles cottage cheese it would be even more painful and you wouldn't be able to remove it all. From what I have read, and heard thrush does not usually effect a person with HIV until latter stages unless it is brought on by other circumstances such as being on strong antibiotics for an extended length of time.
What you more then likely have is either dry mouth, or as you said irritation from your tooth brush, but just in case it continues for an extended amount of time and you have discontinued using the toothbrush and the you dont think dry mouth is the cause I would give your GP a call.

actually it is not always painful......I got a case of thrush after being on antibotics for a while, after having my tonsils out....its just a white film that covers your entire tounge, etc.....Mine was not painful and went away after about 3 days of a mouth solution..not bad

Lately I got this white film on my tonsils only. I had a sore throat a week ago for a few days, but it got better. Then, now, I get this white film, like dead skin, on my tonsils. Not painful, just a little scratchy. Not anywhere else in the throat, just right on the tonsils.

I went to the doctor. She did a very quick peek and said it could be algeries. I've never had any algeries that I know of. I ask about thrush and she said no. She said it was not bacterial (in the swab test she did). But from all I read, it sure sounds like thrush. She gave me algery pills, that did not help. I havent been back and even though I'm taking these algery pills she gave, its still there after 5 days.

Thrush is bad.....really bad, ask anyone that has ever had it, a white film on the tongue is not thrush its just dry mouth.....comes from allerges, smoking, irritants, food. HIV anxiety will cause you to belive anything is a symptom of HIV.
