Hi everyone,
Well I am new here, and as everyone else seems to be doing here - trying to get pregnant. Has anyone heard of many people my age actually falling pregnant. I am not sure that I am ovulating every month (I don't always get the clear mucus - things can be rather dry). So I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for getting their bodies to ovulate and just general advice!
Any feedback or help would be much appreciated!
Kind Regards
Jennifer

My friend is 38 years old and she has just got a bfp.
You can check ovulation using test strips (sorry dont know what there called as i dont use them) or an ovulation microscope (this i love).
To help with ovulation there is a drug called Ovulex which is meant to help, i know you cant get it from the shops in England but im not sue about America etc, its on the net though, to regulate my af i take Angus Chaste Berry which you can get from health food shops or the phamacist.
There are some good books out there also that help, i went into my library and looked in the health section and its amazing what you find. I brought a book by Toni Weschler called Taking Charge Of Your Fertility and its been my bible - certainly one i dont regret buying ;)
Good luck and if i think of anything else i will let you know.

Hi Ms,
BFP means big fat positive meaning a positive pregnancy test :) Just wanted to wish you good luck. Have you talked to your DR about getting pregnant? Maybe he has advice. There are ovulation tests. You can buy them at most any store that carries pregnancy test. There right next to them. They tell you when your most fertile time is :) My Mother was in her late 30's and my sister had a friend who was 38. I think it is very common for woman over 35 these days that are having babies. I think even in the old days it was common!
Baby dust to you!

Hiya...
When ttc I used this board, its really helpful, the ladies are super supportive and if you do searches there is a wealth of information in previous threads/posts too. I am now pg and hope that I can help others who are on this board as I know how tricky ttc can be...
I would suggest if you're ttc asap try not to set yourself up for disappointment, sometimes good things take time (like good wine :D ). I would suggest the following tho:
Make a plan!!!!
* What indicators are you going to use to help you predict ovulation? (definately use more than one!)
* Learn through basal body temps what rhythm your cycle has temperature wise. Invest in a personal calender (or print one from MS word). Note your twinges and mucus types, try and establish a rhythm.
* While doing the temperature thing, I would invest in some ovulation predictor sticks, they can detect hormone surges allowing you to know when you are ABOUT to ovulate.
* Your egg is available for fertilisation for 12 hours (approx... nasty window huh!) SO the idea is to find out when you're ABOUT to ovulate then BD (Baby Dance). BD every day to every second day around the window of opportunity. This could be several days... but the idea is to make sure when you release your egg, there is sperm there waiting... OR on its way very shortly :D
* Take some evening primrose oil, this will increase the amount of clear cm so your DH's 'boys' can live for longer inside you (the clear cm is a protective mechanism for his sperm to survive for longer and allow them to travel further on their quest :D )
Good luck on your journey....

Thanks so much everyone for your support and feedback. I have now purchased all the vitamin supplements, the ovulation strips.....and are about to start charting (as soon as I get my period). I just hope I don't get myself too stressed out trying and so it never happens (if you know what I mean).
Thanks again ladies, I really appreciate your help! :-)
I will write back with any news (if any!!).
Jen. xx

I am 34 with Diminished Ovarian Reserve so basically my ovaries seem to think they are much older then me. I am taking clomid right now but I've tried IUI's, IVF's etc. It's been almost 5 years. Some things I have learned along the way; EPO until you o, mucinex or Robitussin help also, there is a great lubricant called Pre-seed {removed} there is a great book called Inconceivable about a 40 something women who gets preg naturally after all Dr's tell her she can't. Her name is Julia something but I highly recommend buying and reading the book. Also it helps to start doing yoga and other exercise and to eat right. Buy a basel therm. and start temping too to make sure you are ovulating and have a long enough luteal phase. Good luck.

Congrats! Being an older mom is wonderful!!!
I had my first baby at age 39, she's now turning 2 next week! You know your body best and can have a perfectly happy, healthy pregnancy. I loved being pg at 39, and although I was high risk for several reasons, I didn't have problems and neither did the baby. She was fine the entire time. Please don't worry about your age, just take good care of yourself. I had some issues during my pg (blood clotting disorder so took blood thinner shots daily, and then got Gestational Diabetes because of my age but controlled w/diet exercise) but doubt you need to worry about it. You are very blessed. Good Luck and keep us posted.
I'll be TTC again soon. We just had a miscarriage (my first) a month ago at 6 weeks and it was horrible. Praying we all get to carry, deliver, love and raise our precious angels here on earth!!!

Thanks so much for responding and for the good wishes (and reassurances). Actually it is quite funny, even at 39 (nearly turning 40) I had no real idea of my body and what different things meant (or even why they came at certain times) for instance I had no idea that mucas meant you were ovulating etc, heck I did not even know how many days were in my cycle. So you can see it is a miracle that I even managed to fall pregnant so soon! Anyway, everyone, best wishes, I hope you all don't get too stressed with the TTC, I know how painful it can sometimes be! Stay positive, I think our bodies (and minds) are such powerful things, so if you can visualize that it will happen, it probably will! Love to all. Jennifer

I'm 43 and have a 15 mo old and 2.5 yr old. We went through almost 5 yrs of IF (got married at 36) and several IU's IVF's. Had 3 losses before DS. He was conceived from an IUI and, at 41 while I was still nursing DS at 7 mos, I found myself VERY queasy. Lo and behold I was pg without even trying. DH and I are still trying to figure out exactly when it happened. It's not like we had much time or I was much in the mood while bf'ing! I now have two beautiful toddlers who are a handful! It can happen. BTW, my one RE told me I needed donor eggs - ha! You never know.
