certain herbs act on the different organs acossiated with detoxification. they are as follows (this list is by no means exhaustive, i have merely chosen one herb that acts on each organ):
Milk Thistle- liver
Dandelion- kidneys and liver
burdock- blood
aloe vera- colon
myrr- lungs
echinacea- lymphatic system
this combination will ensure all detoxying organs are stimulated. also, drink lots of water and adopt a good basic diet focusing on whole grains, lean proteins, essential fatty acids and lots of raw fruit and vegetables. this helps flush toxins through the system from the kidneys. excercise also detoxes as toxins are lost through the sweat and it also moves the lymphatic system. this will detox you over time. it may not be as sudden and quick acting as fasting but it is will keep you largely toxin free. much better to take the long road than fast and then retox, only to do it all over again. lifestyle cahnges are better than occasinal desperate attempts at good health, only to slip back into old ways. (by the way i'm not saying you are in this category, i'm just making a general comment about people who abuse their bodies, detox and abuse some more).

Ratboy! You seem very knowledgable when it comes to this. I have recently been interested in doing a 2 weeks colon cleanse. I'm wondering if mixing Psyllium Husks, Activated Charcoal, Aloe Vera and {PERHAPS a probiotic like L.Casei} Does this combination sound alright, or would you suggest another? THankyou very much!

sorry for the late reply: i've been working like a dog; thank god for spirulina to get me through the 43 hours i have had to endure!
they sound great dude. inregards to the probiotics they are a great idea as they encourage better bowel function. run down to H&B today. we have something called Regucol on offer for half price til the end of today. it has a mixture of psyllium husks and pro-biotics. the aloe vera juice is also on offer half price. cleans your colon like scouring the inside of a mug with tea stains! feed out.
