Has anyone experienced jamais vu? I have a few times but after I've had a Grand Mal seizure. Jamais vu is the feeling that you are seeing something for the first time although you are aware that you have done it or been there before and it should be very familiar to you. In French it translates to "never seen".
My post ictal feelings usually last for about ten days after the seizure. The jamais vu stuff doesn't scare me but it makes me feel strange. In a way, it can be enjoyable. It's a new adventure in the same old place. Wild. I imagine it's like being on recreational drugs without the fear of being arrested.
I've become a mall monkey (just hanging around) at a local mall where I've made some friends and although I don't have trouble getting around during my post ictal jamais vu I am aware that I've been hanging out at this place for several years and of the people I know and don't know there. It's like seeing the place through someone else's eyes. I will notice things that I know are there but they seem different and new with jamais vu. Another example is that although I am aware that my apt needs to be cleaned up I have, pre-seizure, gotten used to my mess and don't worry about cleaning up. Then, after the seizure, I can see what a mess I've been living in and wonder why I let it get to be so messy. So it's like living in a different apt, too. It's similar, in a sense, to deja vu but with jamais vu I am seeing things anew that I know I am familiar with.
Does anyone have similar such experiences/feelings?
