I am confused. I've recently been diagnosed with MS, and I'm fine with it. My spinal tap came back with elevated IgG (6) and white blood cell count in cerebrospinal fluid. Neuro mentioned monoclonal gammopathy (and the fairly remote possibility of multiple myeloma) and sent me for blood work, electrophoresis. Apparently there was no M protein spike. Yet she has ordered a skeletal scan and skull x-ray based on monoclonal gammopathy. From all I've read the odds are very low that I could have MM - caucasian, female, age 47. Can anyone shed any light on whether this seems like an appropriate test at this point? Is there something else that may be indicated by an IgG level of 6?
