I was wondering how accurate the saliva and blood tests are. Common sense would say that the saliva is not as accurate as blood but I am probably wrong. So what are the percentages for accuracy of each of the tests. Thanks

Well, if your goal is to drive yourself crazy about the accuracy of the current HIV tests, then this is certainly the best way to go about it. The Orasure, as best I can tell, is not a test of saliva, but a test where they scrape the inside of your gums and obtain samples of the oral mucosa. There are people who can address this issue.
However, regarding the accuracy of the blood tests, statistically there will always be some fallout with all tests. However, it's the best we have. Also, while there may be false positive results I don't think I have ever heard of a false negative result.

Orasure is actually a test of the saliva for the hiv antibodies, which is the same thing they test blood for.
It's accuracy is to be at 99% when used correctly. Proper use would be putting it between your gums and cheek in the back of your mouth... rubbing it back and forth a few times until it is moist, then leaving it sit there for two minutes... being removed put into a vial and sent to the lab.
Blood Test is 99.9% accurate.
These are assuming that the test is taken after 6 months of risky contact.
At 3 months the blood test is only 95-97% accurate.

If what you want to hear is there a possibility of a False negative?...the answer is yes, but the "extremely" few cases of false negatives after the window have been in places like india, and are due to human error, not lab test error, if you test negative after 6 months then there is only .1 possiblity out of 99.9 that you could still be positive, and those cases are due to an already extremely decreased immune system due to drugs.....etc. HIV anxiety is hard to shake off, even after repeatedly testing negative, If you really want to shake off the anxiety then take a vload test, those tests are usually for people who already test positive but if you test negative on that test then you couldnt possibly be positive,if you still cant shake it off then I would suggest councling
