Hi there- As you may have read I got the results of my MRI today and it was neg. no lesions or signs of MS. My MRI was only read by the radiologist and not by the nuero. Is this normal? I've read that several of you have had neg MRi @ 1st and have later been dx w/ MS. I asked about an LP but the nurse relayed that the dr thinks it unnecessary due to the good MRI findings. As far as he's concerned MS is ruled out- case closed. But I feel like I have so many of the symptoms outside of the visual probs. I have to wait until next Thursday to meet with him to see what other disorders he wants to look in to. I just have a feeling that something is not right. It's been so many years and so many specialists. Meanwhile my primary dr thinks that all of my symptoms ca be attributed to stress and that I am so used to the high anxiety levels that I don't feel anxious but the symtoms are being manifested physically. It's true that I have been under a lot of stress lately(my parents aredivorcing after 37 yrs an I'm an only child) but these symptoms have been here long before they are just worse now. She is going to send me to a rhuemotologist again because my ANA is elevated, any relation to MS? My worst symptoms right now are tingling and numbness and extreme weakness in my legs and my arms are "asleep" 90% of the time regardless of positioning. Have any of you had this feeling?? Are you aware of any other diseases that mimic MS? I was dx with IBS, Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia years ago, but not may drs believe in these things anyway. I really would feel better if someone @least the current nuero read my MRI and possibly another 2nd opinion as well as possibly consulting an MS clinic or specialist. It's so hard to wait and be in limbo when all of these symptoms are taking over my life right now. I haven't bee symptom free for probably 2 min. in the last 10 days. I'd appreciate any advice!
Thanks so much for your time

Tired Mom,
I sure do feel for you and I know everyone reading this relates to how you feel. My therapist told me that there are only so many ways a body can manifest that something is wrong, so there are many things that feel like MS. Anxiety is definitely one of them. Are you on any meds for anxiety? There are many therapies for it, which might help you get thru this difficult time with your parents, etc. Breathing techniques and yoga are helpful for stress, no matter what you're going thru.
Don't know where you are in So. Cal but Santa Barbara has an excellent, new neuro. facility.
Sure hope you get to feeling better soon....it's so horrible to feel badly all the time. I know, I've not been symptom free since January....but I don't have little kids at home, either!! Hang in there and let us know how it goes!
