I'm a 16 year old male, who's scared to death I might have HIV like so many others who post on this forum.

Almost 4 weeks ago, I was dating this girl who was known to be rather promiscuous. I had unprotected vaginal sex with her 5-6 times before ending the relationship. Although she assured me that she was tested and was fine, human beings are known to be deceiving. Also, some of my friends had been with her and have tested to be fine, but HIV doesn't have a very high transmission rate and I'm very nervous thinking that I might of been that low statistic.

Every little potential symptom is eating away my sanity. For example, I've had a rash on the back of my neck and these past few days, I've aquired quick fading cold sores. I also have alot of plegm which could be caused due to my recent quitting of smoking. Other than that, I've had no ARS symptoms although I'm well aware that HIV infection does not always present symptoms and to top it off, another negative attribute I've read is that uncircumsized males have a greater chance of aquiring disease, which I am.

Yesterday I went to get tested, excuse my ignorance but I don't know the specific name of the test they used but they did draw blood. Unfortunately I've read many threads stating that seroconversion takes an average of 3 months which only god knows how I'm gonna survive that long.

I need a true statistic here, how long is the TRUE window of seroconversion.

Thank you for your patience and any advice/comments/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, this is probably gonna be contended, but I got this from somebody who works in the field of HIV.

Those who are going to truly test positive do so at 4-6 weeks post exposure. Three months is a very conservative window. Test at six weeks if you want to take the pressure off. A negative result at 8 weeks is pretty much a guarantee of your end result, but prudence dictates that a three month test should be undertook. Six months is for those with a compromised immune system. IV drugs, transplant, chemo etc

The THT in the UK also agree with everything up there :)

And your right, HIV transmission from a woman to a man is significantly more difficult. You have a lot going your way but test to be sure.

Jon.

Well we all go through trials and tribulations for a reason. I hope you have learned that if your going to engage in sex in the future you will wear a condom. Be aware however that condoms do not protect againts HPV and Herpes. Test in 6wks and then again at three months. The make sure you engage in safe sex......blessings...

You can have every symptom you read online, and never test positive a day in your life. I believe you started thinking about how promiscuous this girl is, and engaged in a downward sprial of thoughts from there...it's completley normal. The rash could be from anything, allergies, insects, a response to stress...phlegm is most likely from smoking. Those who experience ARS, usually have a fever, fatigue, naseua and vomitting...Most people who have HIV don't even experience ARS...I think it'll be okay...Keep in touch
