Hello,
I wonder if there is anything wrong with eating many small meals but kind of taking it to an extreme sometimes... like even when I wake up at 3am I eat a little something like an apple or a piece of bread and read for a while.... never really eating a full meal, just nibbling all day and all night?

NO, i wouldnt think there would be anything wrong with that as long as your arent exceeding your daily caloric needs .remember if you dont burn more than you take in, you WILL gain weight.

The only downside I have heard is that it can be hard on your teeth since they are in contact with food so much. Other than that, it should be good for your metabolism.

I snack all day and I eat like you do in the middle of the night if I wake up. I have been able to do this without gaining weight.

Becoming overweight is not an issue (at least not right now, lol), I am like hardly over 100 pounds!

Kathrin-
Hey! It's Jen..(aka-Running Queen). Wow, you are still so thin? How are things? I think that eating many small meals during the day is fine, but just make sure that you are getting enough calories! Love ya girl!

eating small meals throughout the day is fine. the zone diet works that way and my sister-in-law eats like that and has a great figure!

I actually calculated around how many calories I am getting the last couple days, I am not sure how accurate I am but it seems to be somewhere around 1700 or 1800.

Eating lots of small meals/snacks throughout the day is actually best for your body. That's how most animals eat in the wild. But do you often wake up in the middle of the night? If that's the case, then you should avoid eating (especially anything sweet) within an hour before bed because the spike in insulin interferes with melatonin secretion, which keeps you from having solid sleep.
