Hello everyone. I am new here and looking for some good advice. My husband and thought from day one our son was just not "right" and my parents also thought that. As a baby he just cried ALL the time. He would only take 2 hr nap max. He didn't like to be held unless I was nursing him. That like that for the first 6months and then I switched to bottles and the crying was still there with no sleep still that was that till he turned 1. Then the crying subsided sleeping got better but still no talking no pionting he just sat there most of the time. For the next yr it dr and dr visit We got tubes in hope that he would repond still no change people would swear that he was deaf. Byy this time he started to grunt for the things he wanted. Still no talking. I guess I should she he has always had eye contact no great but it is there! By the time he turned 2 he was still not talking at all no mama nothing. So the dr said to take him to our local school system and have his speach tested so I did when he was 26 months old. They said he tested that of a 9mon in some areas and 6mon in other areas. They dig PDD/possible autism. So after 6 months I took him a neur. and they said he deffintly fall on the spetrum I should say he flaps his hand tenses them up does not wear shoes hate haircuts (been kicked out of 4 dif. places hairs.) But his Fragile X Dna cromasone and mri was all neg. I am in the mix of taking and getting a neuropsyc test done. The dr. said he is autistic but tell me hfa or as or what he said the neropsyc test is for that. Sorry for this being so long. I thank everyone for taking time to read and give their opions.

Thank you!

If he's not autistic I don't know what he is! Sounds like a text book example. But no worries, he'll be fine...lots of therapies to choose from - speech language therapy, occupational therapy, sensory therapy, multi vitamin therapy, picture exchange communication, ABA, AIT, EAS etc etc etc........... :)

From your description, he meets alot of the criteria for an Autism dx. He sounds alot like my son did as a baby. With all the therapy my son gets, he has improved by leaps and bounds.

I would suggest you look into the GF/CF diet asap. That's where I started and he began to improve immediately after we started the diet intervention. Look up GF/CF on the internet and it will explain about the possibility of allergy to gluten( wheat) and casien (milk) that alot of kids dx with autism have. Not all respond to the diet change but from what I've read about 80% have positive results.

I have also done an itergrated play group, occupational therapy, speech therapy and ABA therapy all which have helped tremendously. I have heard that alot of kids on the spectrum also do well with music therapy.

I hope this was helpful. Good Luck
