I did well yesterday, I only at about 50 calories more than planned at dinner, but my snack ended up being gross - the carrots were mushy for some reason.
Here's today:
B: oatmeal, 1/2tbsp. PB, 1/8c. raisins, 1/2c. milk, 3/4c. OJ, slice bacon (435, ?)
S: apple, yogurt (160, 0)
L: 1c. chili, 5 Ritz, 1/4c. RF cheddar, diet Dr. Pepper (450)
S: carrots, Ranch (180, 14)
D: pork chop w/mushroom sauce, 1/2c smashed potatoes, 1/2c peas, 1c milk (?)
Kind of hard to count calories when you're cooking at home. I'd guess I'll be right around 1800 calories today. Thats a little higher than I'd like, but lower than I have been and this is only day 2 afterall!
Good luck to all today!

Hello, To figure out the approximate calories in a home cooked meal, you might want to buy a "food values" book or a calorie counter. I have a large book called "Food Values" by Pennington or could it be by Pinkerton. I know the auther starts with a "P." It has everything in it...vitamins, minerals, calories, fat, carbs, etc. It really helps out. Also you can look up the "Calorie Control Council" through a search engine. They have an online calorie counter/calculator. Hope this helps. The other thing I noticed about your menu is that you have potatoes and peas at the same meal. Did you know that counts as two starches and turns to sugar? Starches are corn, potatoes, peas, pasta, rice, and bread. You might want to try brussel sprouts, broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, spinach, salad, carrots, or string beans with the potatoes instead for quicker weight loss.

Don't know what it is about peas and mashed potatoes, but they really seem to make this meal. =) If I make pork w/ mushroom sauce, I usually make mashed potatoes and peas along with it. I don't think it'll hurt my weight loss now; it hasn't in the past.
Thank you for the info on calorie counting.

Chelle1977 -- (in answer to you question on yesterday's journal) I ALWAYS cheat. I end up having an extra piece of bread with butter at dinner, or some chips with the kids when they get home from school. And something just before going to bed. I figure if I'm going to behave like this -- it's a habit I've never been able to break for long -- then I should plan for it!
Maybe it's not really cheating. Maybe its eating six small meals a day rather than three. But it suits my lifestyle. My real challenge is not to eat too much during these little "rewards"
