I had a patch the size of a silver dollar in the upper-middle of one of my butt cheeks......

Scabs fell off and now the skin is pink where they were.....

Is this normal for hsv-1?
Is this normal for hsv-2?
Is this normal for shingles?

The pinks skin just does not look good......how long will this take to return to normal.

Hard to tell from the information you provided. Here's a few questions that might help get to a possible answer:

What was the "patch" like?

Did it contain blisters?

Did it itch?

Was it painful?

How long was it there?

Why didn't you go to a doctor?

1. red patch the size of a silver dollar in middle of butt cheek and on bottom of foot....
2. I guess there were blisters....they did crust over
3. No itch
4. No pain
5. It has been 17 days and the last scab is falling off....although they started falling off about 5 days ago.
6. There is pink skin underneath....about 15 pink dots close together.
7. I went to two doctors....one said shingles and the other said herpes simplex.

What does this sound like.....if you had to guess?

Has anyone ever heard of herpes simplex leaving the skin pink for a few weeks after the scabs fall off?

Maybe this is a symptom of shingles rather than herpes simplex......

I've had it for 20 years and never had that happen at all........sounds like shingles to em.

my sons have hsv-1. Only one had lesions and yes, it did leave pink spots when the scabs fell off. He had them on his scalp, neck, ear, and face. They also left small raised scars.
