Sending (((hugs))), you are NOT "so fat". Yes, you're overweight and yeah, that sucks, but you've taken the first step to losing weight. You admitted the problem and are asking for help!
Weight Watchers is a great program and I'm sure you'll do marveously at weight loss. Take the changes one at a time and don't forget to treat yourself well!
What does WW suggest for you to do in the beginning?

funny you say that.. i walked in and had to fill out a registeration form out... and lined up and then paid my £4.75 (ouch) then lined up again got weighed (230 pounds ouch) then got given a little blue bag with some books in, diary, and some more bits and then left.. i cant stand aload of people and it was packed... i dont even know what will happen next week.... i am going to go bye some healthy foods tommorrow and start it tommorrow then when i go tuesday of next week i will get weighed and see if i loos something.. if i dont loose anything i am going to quit there £4.75 is alot of money for me everyweek... and i cant sit araond with loads of people there as i suffer from anxiety and panick attacks.. i think i had a panick attack on the way home along with eptopic heart beats scared me so much i went straight to the docs...

Ah, you're in the UK. Is that about $10USD? Out of curiousity.
I know a lot of people here in the States that use the information they gave you today, the diary and whatnot, without ever attending the meetings. The philosophy behind their diet works even if you cannot stand to be weighed publicly.
I don't want to upset you, but only one week isn't much time. You might consider reading the material and only going to meetings once a month or so?
You CAN do it, just give yourself a little time.

we have to go every week for weigh in... if we miss a class we still have to pay the £4.75 a week.... even if we miss it.... we get 2 weeks of a year without paying and that is xmas week and new years week and if we go away on holiday we have to let them know or we will be charged for missing a class..

Donna, keep going ..the crowds are bound to die down as it is just after New Year's...and don't forget all those resolutions that people made to lose weight..unfortunately not all of them will make it ..so many of them will drop out..I know you will not be one of them!!

Hi Little Sheep...and 'Chelle too.
Donna, I am in the same general weight/ht as you, only older, nonsmoker & in memopause. But it is all the same sweetite!
I keep to low-fat/lower cal diet (alot like WW)not just to lose weight but for my husbands cholsestral (which has gone way down on this diet)and of course exercise.
I too have panic disorder & know what you mean about crowds. It will get better, honest it will.
And good luck on lowering your ciggs---I know that is hard too.

Have you tried Weight Watchers online? Not sure if you can do it in the UK, but in the US the WW site offers meetings, support, recipes, all online. You still have to pay, but you can avoid the crowds. Go to a search engine and type in "Weight Watchers online". Good luck!
