Every single Thursday and Friday night I go out to either a party or the bar and drink with friends. I don't get drunk much but I know that alcohol is a lot of calories and I am not sure how to go about this without ruining my diet. I also do not want to not drink at all. I was thinking if I could just eat a lot less and cut down on my drinking each night coming out with about 1300 calories total with the food and alcoholic beverages for the days I drink, do you guys think that would work? Would I still lose weight? Please let me know what u all think. Oh and is it better to drink lite beer or coconut rum with diet coke- I really do not like beer but if it is better I could try changing my mind.

If your total calories a day, including the alcohol, are lower than your calorie needs for the day (meaning you take in less than you use), then you'll lose weight.
Lite beer probably has fewer calories in it than rum; making it easier to stay within your calorie range, but not necessarily better to drink.
A trick to keep from drinking too much, drink water between every alcoholic drink.
The other problem with drinking is it often encourages overeating.

but how many carbs do each have in them and sugar?? Both can convert to fat if not burned off.Not to mention drinking slows your metabolism wayy down!

Hello, Don't forget about the problems associated with binge drinking. I'm hoping that you are not downing an entire 6 pack 2 days out of the week. Now I have a question...I thought it was bad to drink on an empty stomach, am I wrong? My tummy never feels good if I don't have a little something with my wine.

Mag, I definitely have to eat something before I go out drinking otherwise I get drunk way too fast and I feel sick too easily.
