Hello everyone,

I am 18wks pregnant. I have been lately experiencing all the symptoms of Diabetes. I especially been experiencing the increased hunger and frequent urination. I know these are common symptoms of pregnancy. I just do feel good everyday. Lately I been laying in bed and been having these extreme dizzy spells. Anyway since I been reading on the this board. I saw a post that said A1c run about 20 dollars. Since I can afford that I decided to get one. A glucose monitor is more expensive. Anyway I took and followed the direction and came up with a score of 6.1. On the direction it says 6.0 and below is consider non-diabetic. Does this number mean I'm prediabetic or should I not worried. I have a mother who is type II and my grandmother was type I she had it since she was 17. I go for my glucose test around 24-28wks. I feel like I am going crazy. I really don't have the extreme thirty. But I do have the hunger pain right after I eat. It's like I didn't eat anything. I'm not really overweight. I am 5'6 159 pre-pregnancy. I only gained 5lbs.But I am all of the other risk factor, Black, over 25 and family history. I also had a baby that was 8lbs 10oz. Please help.

You never really know with a home test. You might want to let your Dr know what is going on and how you feel. They might bump up your glucose test so you know what is going on. You might also want to buy a cheap bottle of glucose sticks. They are sticks that you use when you urinate that tell you the range your blood sugars are in. They are cheap and could be helpful in setting your mind at ease.

Good luck and Congratulations!!
