maybe i dont understand this but i just quit!i mean cold turkey quit i am no different than anyone else here i am weak, cranky and miss smoking but i would never think of using a patch or gum as ur still providing your body with the thing ur trying to stop. i am not trying to put anyone down or insult those that "need" these things but why not just to stop??to say that is near impossible is a huge cop out and an excuse. is it perhaps a substitute thing?

Hayley...

No disrespect, but for some people it is near impossible to quit without NRT, me being one of them. If it wasn't for NRT, I don't think I ever would/could have quit for this long. (almost 2 years now)

If you were able to quit cold turkey, well, congratulations,... and know that you are very lucky.

Good luck with staying smoke free,
Deda

haley...i partly agree with you. longest i quit was one time the patch and one time cold turkey, four mos. each time. it is real easy to take patch off and go to store for cigs. been there, done that! i guess wanting to quit and the will power to stay away from them is the only way! don't know if how long and how much you smoked makes it harder or not? i have a 40 yr. two pack a day habit. was your habit as bad? maybe this does'nt matter, have no statistics on it! anyway i put an original post on here that has'nt gotten any hits yet. i do need help and guidance! good for you for doing it!....bevann

well im 33 and smoked since i was 16 then i smoked a pack a week but it got worse the last 2 yrs as it was a pack every 3 days which doesnt sound much but it still was. i did quit when i was pregnant but knew i shouldnt smoke so it wasnt too hard. my problem this time is i dont want to quit!! i know i have to quit because its expensive and not good for me! its been since fri and its tues now, never cheated once but i do crave it all the time. ven when i quit before after 2-3 yrs the craving was still there i usually start again when over time i have a drinik and a smoke and for a long time i was able to do that and not start up again but then a co worker at a new job smoked so i started again!! but yes this isnt really volutatry this time! my kids are really happy, even if im not! i dont feel i have good willpower i just reason with my self plus everyones been so great around me they will no enable me or smoke when im around at all but even if they did i prob wouldnt smoke i know its time to quit while im still young! gl
