How can you be ovulating for 4 days? I'm pretty sure that's impossible. Could there have been a problem with the test?

Hello,
I am new to the TTC area. I already have one daughter, 3, and now we want to give her a little bro/sis:)
All this Ovulation stuff has been just confusing me, you'd think I'd just know this as my mom says cause I am a woman but I don't:) lol

Thanks for all the help, I need it lol:)

The stick showed a surge 2 red lines for FOUR days one of the days was the darkest. I had to been ovulating on one of those FOUR days wouldn't ya think?

The ov tests I took recomended not using them once you have your first positive 2 line result, because a positive is a positive and you can save them for the next time around if needed. That means you should have ovulated within 24-36 hours after your first positive result. So if you Bd'ed that first and second day after, your chances are good! CHJH is right though, You only ovulate with one egg once a month (with the exception that there COULD be 2 eggs, such as fraternal twins) and the egg only lives around 24 hours. Sperm however, can live anywhere from 2-5 days usually, so the sooner you bd the better! :)
The tests measure the LH hormone, that is always present in your system anyway, but there is a surge just when the egg is released. (so sometimes you have one faint line, but that doesn't mean it's the surge...the surge line should be around as dark as the other line) I think any additional days were just showing there was still an abundance of LH in your system after the inital surge.

I hope this helps! good luck to you!

I am aware of how long a woman ovulates and how short the time frame is. The ovulation test I took had 7 sticks the first ones showed a faint line not as dark as the test line. The last 2 sticks showed a darker line then the test line so that meant to me I was surging at some time. My husband had intercourse over 7 days straight anyways, but obviously to no prevail.

Hi there. I wonder if your doctor would help you out with this one, since the ovulation sticks aren't working well for you. I had trouble with the ovulation sticks too, and my doctor is helping me out. I have bloodwork done just before I think I'm going to ovulate. Apparently they can see whether you are going to release an egg that day or the next day. If the test comes back negative, you can have another blood test each day until it comes up positive. I had a phone call on Friday from my doctor saying that the blood taken on Thursday morning showed that I was going to release an egg on Friday, and she told me to have sex asap. I have my fingers crossed that it worked. Maybe this will be helpful for you too -- ask your doctor.

Thanks I may give that a try and it may be that I had just stopped taking the pill. And just turned 40 I was 36 when I had my Daughter and was taking Vitex and royal jelly. I may as well do that again. Thanks again. ;)

Since you're 40, I wouldn't waste any time. You never know, right? Talk to your doctor and see what you can do to get this done! Best of luck to you.
