View Full Version : Help me, Constant Pain, Docs won't Help

I'll start at the beginning, Banged my head about a month ago, on a wall, no blackout, no blood, only symptoms I've had since are headaches.

Went to Docs a few days after it, said it was a neck injury and wouldn't prescribe painkillers. got worse a few days later, felt really bad, went to A+E and the doc put it down to being Post Concussion syndrome, gave me Coediene + Parcetemol painkillers, took them for a few days but side effects of coedine made me even worse.

Went back to Docs a week later, said the same as the other doc, examined my head, said I was fine, told me to just take paracetemol as there would be nothing serious as I have no other symptoms apart from headache, wasn't knocked out at all or drew blood.

Hasn't improved since so went to local GP last week, again said the same as the other docs, said I should take stronger painkillers.

It's now been a month, and the heaaches have not eased one bit, docs simply say it's nothing and I don't seem to be getting any better, painkillers sometimes work, sometimes they don't, I also have a heavy feeling in my head, like pressure when the headaches are at theres worse, also head feels tigher inside when they are worse.

A couple of days ago I was in constant pain all day, whilst yesterday I was almost fine, and today I'm back to feeling crap again, it seems to vary from one extreme to the other from day to day.

Doesn't appear to be any difference in times a day, or what I eat or what I do don't have an effect on them and I haven't noticed any patterns.

What the hell is it, and if it was something minor, surely it should have cleared up by now or at least died off a bit.

See a Neurologist that specializes in headaches. Check your phone book (yellow pages) for one and/or ask your doctor to recommend one.

You may need to have an MRI done.

Yeah, I agree with M.M.. There is definately something going on there.

It sounds like what you would experience with a low grade concussion - and if you have had concussions in the past, it takes less and less impact to give you one.

How long should the symptoms last? I don't really know. I know of people who have had them last for years. That is why I think you need to pressure your Dr. to get you in for more testing!!

They can't just keep throwing pain meds. at it and hope it goes away.

Good luck.

Chas
