My dads B-day was the other day. He turned 69 or what we all thought he turned 69. He said, "do you realize that in 3 minths, I will really be 70?" I said, how do you figure? He said because when we have B-days, we celebrate the day of our birth, but when we are born, we are actually 9 months old! I never really thought about that. I wonder if his theory is really true???? :)

Actually, your dad has made a very good point. Some cultures consider a newborn to be 1 yr. old. I'm glad I'm not a part of those cultures--I don't need an extra year tacked onto me!! Ha!

I was thinking about that too the other day, I was thinking, since my bday was 3 months ago, if you count in utero, I'm actually 30, thats when God created me right? Think I'm just trying to prepare myself for turning 30 since I never thought something like that would happen to ME! But you are celebrating your "birth"day. Its the # of years you've lived life after leaving mom. Good, I like that better, so I'm still 29 ;)

Yeah, I wonder who the mathmetician was that came up with celebrating our B-days AFTER the 9 months???!! :rolleyes:because it's our birthday. It's the celebration of the day we were born, NOT the day we were conceived.
Singer1, your dad is 69. The 9 months is the time a child is developing. It's not even a person the entire 9 months. Birthday= the day we were born.

I think this is true only if you are a Christian and believe life begins at conception. Or if you are of another denomination that shares the same belief. Otherwise, it's tough to tell. Do you consider a zygote to be alive even before it is fertilized?

Many cultures believe the day you are born is your first year. Therefore on your first "american" birthday, you would actually be two in some cultures or starting your second year.
Weird huh?
