Ok ya'll
I need your help. Since my attack I really have not been able to get around. I'm just starting to get around again. In a little over the month that I haven't been able to do much I've now gained 8lbs. HELP !!!!!!
I need to lose weight not gain it !!! Now I know swimming is supposed to be good but I don't have access to a pool. I can't walk too far yet without getting pins and needles to the point it hurts. So what can I do to lose some weight. I mean even if I only lose the 8lbs I've gained....Please help I'm already sad about not being able to be active
I hope someone has some good advise for me .....I used to be able to hike play tennis, run.......I'm going to cry
Blessings to you all

Mari, I've gained 20 lbs in the last year and I am a horsetrainer! So, I can relate! I saw my ptp on Tuesday and asked about the weight gain...I've tried South Beach and I've tried no carbs, etc...he said, reminded me, really, that it's a calorie thing. He said, "If you eat 2000 calories in a day and only burn 900, in four days, you will gain a pound."
That helped me a lot. Now, I'm watching calories and hoping that will help. Got me cereal, which I love, and non fat milk....fruit...I eat for lunch deli meat (turkey or lean roast beef) and cheese....whatever works for you, I think that should help. the old song and dance, I'm sorry to say.
I do swim, as I have access to a pool, but have not found it to help me to lose weight. I have great muscles in my arms, though! I think if I had a stationery bike in front of the TV, that would help and I wouldn't have so many "pins and needles." Anyway, just wanted you to know I'm going thru the same thing....don't despair, just catch it at 8 lbs before it gets to 20! best of luck

Yeah I really want to get on top of this now because 8 is too much for me. I din't think I was all that active before my flare but now I relize I was pretty active. Which is why I think this happened to me....Going from an activity level of 7 to a 0 for a while now up to 3 is quite a change for my body. Oh well I'll figure something out =)

G'day from Aussie....
I too had weight problems when I had my last serious attack (Jan 2004) was so bad I had to shut my business down and am on disibility now... ( NO feeling what so ever in hands and tons of other stuff) Before attack I was a mad cyclist and VERY FIT...
So someone put me on to the MS diet by Prof. Swank. It is a life style diet, for life but I have dropped to a great weight and feel almost normal (some of the time anyways) I know the benefits are wonderful with this tested diet.
So if you haven't heard of the book its called "The ms diet " by Prof. Roy Swank. I get it out of the library regularly as it's really expensive in Australia to buy.
Good luck with everything and keep you chin up!
Cheers,Melody

Thanks for the good advise.......I've been looking into the swank diet now for awhile, but I love dairy I don't know if I can live without it  LOL The meat I could care less about.
I'll look into the trampoline as well $20 I can handle that.
Thanks again
Blessing to everyone
