Hi
Can any one advise me if i should be conderned or not?
In my last hormone blood sample it showed that my insulin levels were 11.3. Is this high or low?? the pathology service has not given me any range so i have nothing to go by, can anyone help??

If it's 11.3 mmo/l then yes, it's very likely you're diabetic. If I recall correctly a diagnosis is made after 11.1mmo/l.
Your doctor will be able to give you information such as your type.

Wait a sec....you said they tested your insulin levels, that's different than testing your blood glucose. Insulin levels are very hard to interpret and are different at random times during the day. I know sometimes they test insulin levels of someone who is hypoglycemic or if there is a heart condition but to test for diabetes they would do a different test. They would have done an A1C or a fasting glucose test. Did you have either of those?

My fasting Glucose was 4.7 (3.5-5.0), it has gone from 5.3 to 4.7 to 5.0 to 4.7 over the last 15 months.
I have diag with syndrome X and am very worried re getting typ 2 diabeties. It doesn't look good does it???

I think your fasting glucose numbers look very good. Maybe you can get a home glucose meter so you can test yourself once a week or so (in the a.m. before breakfast). That way you can keep a closer watch on what your blood sugar numbers are. You can get a meter for free or practically for free but then you have to buy the test strips. If you can't afford the test strips then most diabetes organizations will send you some if you give them a call.

A hormone test is not the way to test for diabetes. You need a fasting blood test done. Get with the doctor and get this done. Good luck
