I have wondered for a long time if I am dyslexic or have some sort of learning disorder. There is a history of dylexia/ learing disorders in my dad's side of the family. In elementry school a teacher said she thought I might have had some sort of learning disorder but my mom said she was just making excuses for being a bad teacher. I went to a christian school and my grades were to high for them to pay for testing. My mom didn't think it was worth the money for me to get tested because I got good grades.

I am a slow reader and an atrocious speller. When I copy a rough draft to a final draft my final draft usually has just as many mistakes becasue I misspelled or missed words when I coppied them. Frequently I will look at words and they look like they are misspelled but I can't figure out what is wrong and when I ask someone else they say it is right. I sometimes screw up the order of numbers (write 54 for 45), particularly when I am stressed or rushed. I often write p as a b or vice versa and occasionally get confused as to which way a 3 vs E goes or a q vs. g. My writing has never been able to keep up with my thinking, which as a child resulted in many sentence fragments and now results in a hatred for writing papers I would be quite willing to give as a speach. I almost never finnish tests on time.

Also, when I was little I was pretty much ambidexterous and could never figure out left from right without really stopping and thinking about it. As a teenager this now is pretty much only a problem in that I have to intentionally play defense (for lacrosse) lefthanded because otherwise I am unable to figure out which hand is the attacker's right hand.

On standardized testing as a kid my spelling and reading scores were usually in about the 50th percentile while most of my other scores were in the upper 90th percentile.

Anyone have any ideas as to weather I am dyslexic, normal, or have some other learning disorder?

Maybe you should go to children's hospital and get tested...insurance will pay for it....they can tell you real quick..........

well that could very well be, but you might have a visual preceptual disorder. you should be evaluated that way you can get accomedations for school.
