Im now 20, i am just under 2 metres tall and weigh a pathetic 59 kilos. Ive weighed this for around the last 3 years and cant seem to change it. Im fed up, i want to be bigger. I do regular weights and i eat a reasonable amount but my appetite is the first problem. I dont eat enough, i try to force eat but feel sick. Any natural appetite stimulants or techniques? Or chemical? I really dont care at this stage ANYTHING will do.
Secondly, i go to the bathroom every day, if ive eaten a lot sometimes even 2x a day! Its terrible, as though everything i eat just flies through my body. How can i slow that down? Again i dont care if its natural or Chemical. Thanks for listening.

You're SUPPOSED to go to the bathroom every day. Why would you want to be constipated?
To gain weight, determine how many calories you are taking in each day and add 500. This should allow you to gain about 1lb. a week. To add calories, look for calorie-dense foods. Instead of fresh fruit, eat dried; instead of water, drink fruit juices and milk; instead of popcorn, eat nuts or nut butters. You might also want to consider adding one or two protein shakes to your daily routine.
Adding food to your diet will take time. Increase by a little each day to avoid gaining fat.
You've mentioned that you work out; what is your workout routine like? You might want to post on the Exercise and Fitness board as well for tips on bulking workouts.

lol! Stop eating burger king food to start unless you just want to get fat. Eating more means eating more complex carbs, lean protein and good fats. Burger king will give you low quality fatty meat, a ton of saturated fat and alot of simple carbs. You want to gain weight but you still want to keep the fat levels under control. Eating alot of carbs when bulking will add some fat to your body anyway so you don't need to give it a helping hand by adding junk food to your diet. Not to mention the effect on your heart.
If you have a problem eating, don't try to up your intake too much too soon. Gradually take it up. You can also try using a weight gainer supplement which will give you quality protein, carbs and fat, but in a drink form which might be easier for you to pallette.

Sunshine .. eating Burget King will, likely , help you gain weight, but it is more likely to be fat than muscle and thats not usually good.
=)
Not to say you shouldn't eat there ever, just that you might want to consider other options for increasing yur calorie intake.
Are you working out? As you eat more calories to gain weight, you will also want to work out to make good use of those calories. Assuming you are a woman, you do not have to worry about 'bulking' up like the Incredible Hulk (from the 80s). It takes a lot of time, effort and testosterone to do that ;-D

Ok then what kind of foods should I eat in order to gain weight? Unfortunately I am working at Burger King for the time being so that is why I'm eating there.

For health, natural (non-processed) foods are best, in my opinion. I avoid foods as much as possible that are in cans and packages. I have found that, doing things this way can also save a person money - in general.
I know when I want to gain weight, that I eat more nuts (as a snack). But I have to be careful, because if I eat too many, the skin can sometimes break out with a pimple or two - it must be the oil. I buy mixed nuts, without the salt - or the low salt variety.
I run quite a bit, so I must be concerned about being too skinny. A food processor is a great tool, to eating more - especially healthy food. For example, I can mix about 5 or 6 different fruits in my VitaMix (food processor) and make a nice snack. That way I get plenty of great tasting fruit, all at a time.
One great tasting fruit drink, is to mix about three or four bananas together with about a cup of milk, and either macadamia nuts or pistachio nuts. It tastes pretty close to ice cream, when you add a tray of ice cubes. As long as a person isn't allergic to a little milk, it's really good.
There's tons of great tasting natural foods that a person can prepare if they take the time to learn. I would think that one can find a lot of recipes also on the internet too.

OMG, I thought I was the only person who has wanted gain weight. I am 29 yrs old and have always weighed at 95. I'll gain up to 99lbs and then of a sudden I go down to 90. I have never weighed more than 99lbs except for when I was pregnant I weighed 101 and of course since I was skinny I had my son at 7 months. My OB tells me that because I'm too skinny I don't ovulate correctly and start my period 3 times a month. He has put me on birth control pills but since my stomach is so sensative I really can't take pills so he put me on the birth control patch I noticed that ever since I started the patch I couldn't stop eating, but haven't gained any weight. However my breasts got one cup size bigger. My doc also recomended chocolate covered almonds. I've tried Boost but it only makes me sleepy. I would like to know what else is there that I could try? I'm so desperate that I've even tried taking turtle oil which I wouldn't recomend. I threw up for one week.

hey rhody...i've noticed that eating nuts can sometimes break me out too. But i was wondering do you find peanut butter or other types of oils to break you out too (like olive/canola oil) or is it just the nuts?
thanks

My wife of 9 years has always been 5'5" and 100 lbs but she wanted to gain weight. She seems to eat constantly but it's really only about 5 or 6 times a day. We discovered a weight gain supplement in GNC (General Nutrition Center) stores, the name I can't recall, but it comes in various sizes up to what looks like gallon or larger sizes. It's a powder in choice of several flavors.
Anyway, after 8 yrs of trying but not gaining weight she went from 100-110lbs in a few months and that's about perfect for her frame. It worked where more food didn't. Check it out.

My message is a reply to the original poster who wants to gain weight.
Although your situation is more extreme than mine, I am also the product of a high metabolism. I am 193cm tall and weigh about 82kg. That's fairly normal, but I am quite thin, and am so only because I eat so much food. I eat amounts that would make others quite fat.
What I found was a good way to put on weight is bodybuilding supplements. I used to take them and my weight went up to almost 100kg. I hope someone else is critiquing this email so they can set me straight if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that heaps of carbohydrates will give you a lot of energy, but they might not help you gain weight unless you take heaps of protein too. Proteins are the only macro-nutrients that your body can use to build itself. Just about every part of your body is a type of protein, made up of various combinations of amino acids. Without amino acids, your body can't properly assemble proteins, and without proteins from the food you eat, your body has no access to amino acids. When you eat protein, your body will break it up into amino acids, and then reassemble its own proteins from that.
Anyway, to make a long story short (and also to hide the fact that I don't know all that much more about the process!!!), it's proteins that your body needs. Excess carbohydrates will only give you more energy to burn and, if they're not used, will give you more fat. Only protein can supply the materials for your body to build more muscle.
So I took supplements. Many weight-trainers also eat lots of red meat. But to get as much protein as supplements give you, you have to eat heaps of red meat, which is a pain in the arse, and requires you to cook it all the time. Try some supplements with heaps of whey protein, which apparently is protein from milk.
But you have to do weights too. Otherwise your body might just use the proteins as fat. Go to the gym two or three times a week and work out hard, but be sure to get plenty of rest afterwards, to give your body time to recover and build muscle. The best time to take the supplements is immediately after a workout, but also with meals at other times of the day.
Let me know how you go. And if anyone else has read this and has something to add, or disagrees or thinks I'm wrong, please say so.
Cheers.

Boy does this bring back memories! I was underweight for the first 30 years of my life. I was 5'8" and weighed between 111 and 119 lbs. I ate like a lumberjack and never gained an ounce. Then I hit 35 and my metabolism began to slow down. My eating habits, however, didn't change and I began to gain weight. At first it was great! Then I began to gain too much weight and I had to start watching my diet. By the time I was 55 I was at 185. Your metabolism will slow as you get older, so watch your diet as you get into your 30s so you don't wind up having to deal with 30 or 40 extra lbs.
