I came home today and my wife had the results of a ghonorrea and Chlamydia test. She had told me that she went in for an exam and that she had some pain down there and that the doctor just did that test along with a pregnancy test. She told me that this was just a normal part of the cervix exam?
I need to know if this is a possibility. Or if these tests are given due to symptons.
Now she did think that she was pregnant that I will give her she was late by 2 weeks and was spot bleeding, but that was negative. What would a doctor be looking for to do a culture and the lab results sent in the mail to only have those 2 tests on there.
I am concerned and upset as anyone else might be. There is a doctor/patient confidentality so I can not ask the doctor as to the basis for the test. I just thought I would ask here and see if there could be some kind of truth to the what she might be saying.
Thank you,

TreyThree,
All doctors are different. In the past, one of my gynecologists included an STD test along with my annual exam, eventhough I was in a long term monogomous relationship. My current doctor only conducts the basic PAP smear and said he would conduct the STD test if I requested it. So, its nothing to worry about- sometimes its just seen as routine. I wouldn't worry about it...unless the tests came back positive.
hope that helped.
