I have been using a wet cup to measure out my serving sizes of foods such as veggies and I was wondering if I'm eating a lot more than I'm supposed to. If the serving size says 1/2 cup and I measure out a 1/2 cup in the wet cup, how much more am I actually eating? Thanks!

Hello, That's a very good question, because there is a difference between the 2 types of measurement. I don't remember what it was, but I think it the difference is very small. An easier way to measure a single serving is to use your own hand. One serving of vegies, pasta, rice, or potatoes should be the size of your fist. 3 oz. of meat, poultry, or fish should be the size of the palm of your hand.

I agree with Magpie...the best way to measure is your hand...but there is a real difference between wet and dry measurements. Your best bet for veggies it to use an actual scale....or buy a set of plastic measuring cups!
I'm a pastry chef and I can tell you that if you use wet measuring for solids like veggies, you're getting more than you would in a dry measuring cup....
Hope this helps!
