I am a type1 and am trying to quit eating sugars and processed carbs. I am out of control. My blood sugars are consistantly above 300.
Does anyone have a good way to either control or taper off gently. My cholesterol is high as well.
I am a vegetarian, and don't eat many eggs or much cheese. A little cream in my decaf in the morning.
I have a long list of supplements that I take.
My doctor is going to put me on a prescription if I don't bring my cholesterol down. I try not to take drugs, except for hormones like insulin and thyroid meds.
I think what I am asking for is a way to stop craving sugar and breads!!!!

Well, what helped me get lifelong carb/sugar binging under control was making sure my intake of protein was adequate and steady (minimum 15 grams per meal/3 meals a day) and cutting back on (which is not the same as cutting OUT) carbs - all carbs - good/bad; brown/white; whatever. It is also helpful for me to get adequate good fats (more or less a Weston Price Foundation definition of good fats). It would not be easy as a vegetarian, though.

Cravings for sugar/sweets/carbs is a sure sign of a yeast overgrowth in the digestion tract.
I've successfully used a product called UniKey Health Y-C Cleanse, A and B, myself. You mix about a tsp in a small amount of water and drink it before breakfast. It is very mild and pleasant tasting, and best of all it works. You take the Y-C cleanse A for about a month and then switch to the Y-C Cleanse B for another month, or two.
This will balance out the yeast in your system and curb those carb cravings.
Also, eat whole fruits and veggies, not juices, as the fiber slows down sugar/carb absorption and thus helps prevent insulin spikes which will bring on the sugar binges.

I am so grateful for your responses! YEAST!!!!! I have it!!!!! I knew it was ever present, it comes to the surface regularly. I just didn't know it was doing THIS!
It is so not like me to eat junk food like this, I am usually so concious. Acouple of large square and some balanced snacking is my normal. Now it is some squares, and lots of horrible food that makes me nap a half hour later.
I will look online for the remedy you suggested. Thanks so much.
