View Full Version : new brain met -- gamma knife and new chemo

My husband Jim, 40 years old, experienced loss of periphrial vision on Wednesday. The MRI shows a new brain met that is causing the problem. He's back on Decadron which has lessened the brain swelling and his vision is normal again.

He went through 14 rounds of whole brain radiation which was completed July 5. Already we have a new brain met. I just can't believe this.

The doc says the gamma knife will take care of this brain met. He says we're going to assume the whole brain radiation took care of the other 3 brain mets since the MRI showed no growth. Apparantly we can put a man on the moon but can't tell if the leisions on a brain MRI are active tumors or dead tumors -- so we'll just 'assume' they're dead. I just can't believe this.

As I mentioned in an earlier post his lung and abdominal CT showed no shrinking of those tumors. The doc is changing his chemo from carboplatin/taxotere to navelbine/gemcitabin.

Please, please, please pray for him. His energy level is excellent -- he's still insisting on going to work and he's 100% other than mild fatigue. He has so much to live for.

Our prayers to all of you,
Sammi
