Hi,

You will probably have a period from the pill not from getting off the depo. It's really hard to say. Most women don't get their periods till a few months or even a year later after the last depo shot. I myself got mine a few days before i was due for my next shot and have been able to have one monthly without any hormone bc(i have the pargard IUD). I would give it some time since the depo will probably stay in your system longer than most BC. Good luck and let us know how things go for you.

I spoke to a doctor today and he told me that more than likely I would have a period from the first cycle of the pills... I am currently 3 days away from the green pills and I was wondering if anyone had any expierence with coming off the shot and going straight on to pills... like did they have a period right away or did the effects of the shot still delay it?... Thanks for your help and if anyone else can help thanks in advance...

I didn't go from the shot to bc pills, but I got off the shot and began using the ring. There were some weird side effects coming off the shot. For instance, I was moody but not depressed really just wasn't really feeling like myself. My body went nuts. I lost a lot of water weight and felt nauseous a lot, like I had a stomach virus or something. Then after a few weeks, I had what I call a fake pregnancy. By that I mean that I had most of the symptons of a pregnancy without an actual pregnancy, sore breasts, nausea, abdominal crampiness, a day of spotting, and was tired all the time.

I would say about 6 weeks off the shot and on something else, it all normaled out. Oh by the way, I had a period but I think it was more to the hormones than anything else. The reason that I think this is because it was a long period (7 days) and when I was on no form of birth control, I was a 3 day at the most.

Good Luck to you and I am glad you got off the shot. It really isn't good for us.
