I've been in perimenopause for about 6 months, from what I can tell. My period cycles have been alternating between 21 and 28 days, pretty regularly, but this month, I've got all the cramping and discomfort of a period, but no bleeding. This it my 3rd day of symptoms.
Is this is a normal part of perimenopause? Does anyone else experience this?
Thanks

I've had the cramping too, but between periods. This is something I've never experienced before, that I can remember. It worries me a bit, since its unusual for me. I have read that cramping can be caused by shifting hormones.

I've been in peri for about 8 years (I'm 47) and one of the first symptoms was severe cramping and the fact that mild cramping would start as early as 7 days before my period. Up until a few months ago, my periods had been about 21 days apart like clockwork for about 3-4 years (lately a lot further apart). But during that time, it just felt like I only had about a week of feeling fairly normal before the cramping would gear up again! It's always a good idea to talk to your gyno to make sure there isn't anything else causing the prolonged cramping. Most likely it is peri. Lucky us, huh?

Thanks for the replies, guys. My period eventually started, but the length of my PMS'ing is definitely lengthening. Now it's not uncommon for me to have a few bad days just a few days after my periods ends. The PMS can start as early as 7-10 days before!
