View Full Version : Question About GERD

I was first diagnosed with GERD at 15. I'm 20, now, and I'm taking rantidine and have been for the past few years. Well, it was fine until the acid started coming back up really bad and then I've been getting nauseous lately and throwing up and the other day I threw up blood. Would the throwing up blood have anything to do with GERD? Because it's never happened to me, before. Could it possibly be an inflammation or an ulcer? I'm not sure, because since I was diagnosed and medicated, I've been fine up until here lately, but now I can't seem to keep hardly any food down.

Hi Melissy
Im afraid you have all the classic signs of an ulcer, you should get this seen by a doctor today, dont leave it a second longer, ulcers can be easily treated but if they arent it can get very serious.Good luck.

Yes, ulcer...have an H.pylorii blood test real soon. A round of carefull chosen antibiotics will cure you in a month.
Don't be content to treat symptoms; a blown ulcer can be a killer.
