I went from over 300 pounds to 230 pounds in about a year. then slipped back to 250. been at 250 for over a year.

The good news is I am off my blood pressure RX , just went to the doctor BP of 120/81

The hard part for me is finding food with no sugar, corn syrup....

For me to lose weigth I need to stay around 20 to 30 grams of carbs a day.

Certain basic principles of the Atkins diet are sound, i.e. the fact that seriously cutting down carbs and sugar while maintaining protein and the right type of fat actually WILL enable you to lose weight.

However, you have to take his basic principle and use some basic nutritional judgement about the rest, such as the over-reliance on high-fat meats (bad for your liver and arteries), or the lack of real fiber or emphasis on vegetables (bad for your colon and overall health), or the fact that he doesn't tell you that the meat you eat should be organic, otherwise you are consuming lots of pesticides, hormones, steroids, and other cancer-causing agents. If you can take his basic principle above and work it into a diet of your own based on some knowledge, you will be alot better off than if you just blindly follow all his advice.
