Hi, I am a recently turned 40 year old and have a few questions if someone could answer, I would be appreciative.
I had my tubes tied over 10 years ago and as drs stated would have heavier periods. Well, I did and still do. The problem is that in the past 6 months or so, I dont seem to ever quit. I will go 3 weeks sometimes the whole month bleeding and not stop before next time. Or I can go 3 weeks and stop for a few days but still spot when I go to the restroom. My mother had her female parts taken out in mid 30's so dont really know about any kind of symptoms or anything. I do have quite abit of hot flashes, mood swings and constipation( maybe once a week, I will go).
If anyone could give me a clue as to what this could be or if its peri or the real thing, I would appreciate it greatly. Just was wondering what to look for and about when or if its happening now!!
Thanks in advance....

I don't think anyone could say definitely one way or the other. You certainly have some symptoms of perimenopause - the mood swings and hot flashes, but you might also want to get your thyroid checked out. Hypothyroidism can cause long heavy periods and constipation as well. It's a simple blood test and worth checking. Just make sure they do more than a TSH - ask for Free t4 and Free t3.
